Presentation Evening
Well done to all the Beavers who were presented with their Emergency Aid Stage 1 Badge. The Beavers have all worked very hard over the last few weeks. I must also mention Sam and Emily who were awarded the Hike 1 Badge for completing a 8 mile hike in Castleton. Well done to everyone.
Children In Need
Thank you to everyone who supported the Children in Need fundraising, we collected a total of £87.65, keep a look out for a mention on Friday night, as I will be sending our details into the BBC.

Cub Update
Since September Darfield Cubs have been undertaking activities to gain a number of badges, including the Chefs badge. Work has been completed on identifying hazards in a kitchen, designing a healthy, and unhealthy plate of food and cooking a two course meal. This was completed on Tuesday, and from the number of empty plates it was definitely a success. Well done Cubs!

Beaver Places
We have a few places available in Beavers at the moment. I will be going into schools over the next couple of weeks to leave information and I have printed some posters to display around the village. If you know of someone who would like to join us or is under six and would like their names putting on the waiting list please let me know as soon as possible.

Beavers Forthcoming Events
We along with schools and other clubs that your children may be involved in have a very busy schedule from now up to the end of the year. To help with organising I have listed our activities on the blog in forthcoming events and will have a printed list available to hand out on Tuesday. We have one or two events that are important to the group and it would be nice to see as good a turnout as last year at both the Remembrance Day and District Carol Service's.
On Tuesday we will be finishing off our Emergency Aid Stage 1 and will be moving on the the Healthy Eating Activity Badge.
We will be going along to Thornhill House on the 15 December for the Beaver Carol Service, they are looking forward to hearing us again and I know that the Beavers really enjoyed performing there last year.
If you have any queries or need further information please see me on Tuesday or give me a call.

Halloween
Its Halloween already! Halloween can be an exciting time for many children however all children not matter whether you are the youngest beaver or Bubbly Beavers age :), cub or scout you must make sure that you are safe at Halloween. Always tell an adult were you are going and if you are younger make sure that an adult or responsible person is with you at all times. Stay in well lit areas and never go inside someones house that you don't know unless a parent is with you.
HAVE FUN AND BE SAFE.

Scout Camp at Silverwood, 2 to 4 October 2009
Scouts will be camping for the weekend from Friday 2 October to Sunday the 4th.
You should aim to get to Silverwood by 6.30pm in uniform. We will be setting up camp and then doing some activities - astronomy is one of them if the weather is clear. The weekend is being used to learn basic Scouting skills, especially lighting and cooking on fires.
We will be in tents, so make sure you have warm gear for sleeping in. Also wet weather clothes and strong boots or wellies.
A completed permission/health form is essential

Thanks to everyone who came along and helped and a big thank you must go to all the Beavers, you were brill!! I think this will be the first of many.

Darfield Scout Group Autumn Raffle
as part of our fundraising effort this year we are holding a raffle. It will be drawn at a presentation evening in November. First prize will be a large food hamper and there will be many other prizes (details to be given later). Please help by selling your envelopes (£1 each) and returning the money by 10th November.
We pointed out, at our AGM, that our income for last year was not enough to cover our costs and we made a commitment to raise more, much needed, funds for our group this year. Your help in making this raffle a success is most important, if you are able to sell these envelopes to your family and friends it would be much appreciated and rest assured it will directly benefit your child.
If you would like more envelopes please don't hesitate to ask a leader.
We would also be grateful for any donations towards the food hamper such as tins, packets and bottles.

Pictures from wetlands day
On Saturday the Beavers joined with Wombwell and Hoyland for a day at Old Moor, Wetlands. As you can see from the pictures we had a fantastic day. The weather was fine and the staff at Old Moor were excellent, very knowledgeable and extremely patient, a big thank you to Kevin and Cathy. We even managed a spell of pond dipping and I am pleased to report that everyone went home relatively dry. I think this is an activity that we will want to repeat in the future.
