Beaver Sports Day 2009
Well done to the 17 Beavers who competed and won the team trophy for Darfield in the District Sports Day held at Broomhill on the 28 June. The day was well organised and thanks must go to all the leaders for their hard work on such a hot afternoon and especially the supporters from Wombwell who provided us with much needed refreshments.
Thanks also to all the parents who supported and in some cases competed in the adult horse race (although it was noted that some parents may have cheated). The Beavers were as always well behaved and showed excellent sportsmanship at all times. It is always nice to take the trophy at these events, but more importantly for the leaders it was nice to see such a good turn out, excellent support and the Beavers having such good fun.

Darfield Scout Group Badge Presentation and AGM
You are invited to come along to a badge Presentation evening and our AGM. This will be held at the Church hall on Tuesday the 30th June, 7pm- 8pm. At the end, we will have some refreshments and this will give you the chance to raise matters that weren't discussed at the formal part of the meeting.
The Badge presentations will show you how your Child is progressing. The AGM will tell you about how the group has preformed over the last year and about our plans for the future for the benefit of your child. It will also be your chance to ask any questions you might have about the running of the Group, for instance, the level of subscriptions.
The Group also needs an Executive committee to help with fund raising and the running of the group. The job is not difficult and the meetings are normally held once a month. If the executive committee is successful, it means that the leaders can step back a bit from having to raise funds for the group and concentrate on providing scouting activities for your children.
We already have a Chair, John Lowrie and a treasurer, Callum Macleod, but we need a Secretary.

This Sunday (28th June) scouts from across Fitzwilliam District are invited to come along and take part in a series of track and field events for a chance to earn the Athlete Badge. The events will be 100m, 200m, 300m (girls), 400m (boys), 800m, 1500m, long jump, discus, shot put, and cricket ball throwing.

The venue is the athletics track behind the Station Inn, off Station Road, Wombwell. Registration is from 1.30pm with events starting at 2.00pm. We expect to finish at approx 4.00pm.
Entry is free, but please bring plenty to drink and a light snack to keep you going. Uniform is not required - wear your sports gear and trainers.
How to Enter
Click on this link to register for the event. This will speed up registration on the day and give us an idea how many scouts are coming.

Beaver Story-They made this!
Once upon a time, suddenly there was a lion in the jungle. He was dancing bonkers and he was climbing the trees, after he ate juicy meat and snoccambers James the monkey came along swinging on the trees, Cinderella dancing at the ball with friends. At the jungle James the monkey found another friend. Declan the snake, came slithering to see what James the monkey was up to. The monkey was playing with his friends swinging in the trees, one snake slithered up the tree and pulled James the monkey out of the tree and he landed on Declan the snake and broke his poorly leg. He said what are you doing playing with that other animal. Suddenly a bang, a volcano was erupting. The fire burnt out of the volcano an all the animals ran away. Keegen the lion saved the monkey. Libby the elephant came along and squirted water all over the fire. They all lived happily ever after!
Well done Beavers this will count towards your imagination badge.

Beaver Visit to Barnsley FC
Today the Beavers enjoyed a full guided tour of Barnsley Football Club. The tour included a session in the players gym and an opportunity to practice football chants in the North Stand, a place usually reserved for visiting fans to Oakwell. As you can see from the pictures one footballer has been on a very strict pre season diet. A big thank you must go to BFC and especially to Craig who made the visit both informative and enjoyable.
